In Cherished Moments
28Nov 07 Hi everyone, I would like to share with you a magical day with my wife Lily when we went to the Outer banks to do some fishing and camping. First we ended up getting to our destination just before sunrise. I, although extremely tired, could not wait to get out on the pier. Lily on the other hand went to sleep for awhile. Even though she slept most of the way there; 10+ hour trip. haha Well, to make a long story short we saw dolphins, two skates swimming gracefully, (one behind the other mimicking each others swirls and dives perfectly), we caught numerous blues, saw a rainbow, caught one spanish mackeral and Lily caught a spade fish. Oh, but wait, there’s more! Later that night we went to a bridge where some people were fishing and they had a lantern over the water. They were quite some distance from us, so I really couldn’t tell what was going on over there. Not to mention I had 10 casts left before we had to go… lol chiefs suggestion if you know what I mean. Well, I had one cast left and before I casted I looked to my left, and way down toward the end of the walkway, that is under the bridge, I saw a strange water surface. My wife and I both went down there and Whoa, the blues were churning up the water chasing bait fish. Even though there was a strong water current with lots of rough water, you could not help but hear and see them going on a feeding frenzy. We spent nearly two hours there. We filled the cooler with blues and it was because we were worn out that we had to quit. But not before a man came down with this huge blue and asked us, “Would you like to have this?” Even with all the other people on the bridge, he sought us out. What a blessing! Oh yea, I forgot to tell you about the clouds of baitfish being chased by blues and mackerals… earlier that day on the pier. These were stories that I told Lily that I had seen on occasion in the past and that I wished I could share with her; I did! I forgot to tell you that when I first arrived at the pier while Lily was sleeping, I saw the dolphin on my own at first. I was a bit bummed out that she wasn’t awake to see them with me… turns out later we did see them together. The two skates I saw, I thought I saw them on my own, Lily was fishing down the pier from me. Again, I was a bit bummed out. The skates were the most graceful swimmers I had ever witnessed… turns out that they showed up to dance for Lily also. The Spanish Mackeral that I was allowed to catch… I was just telling Lily the day before the trip that I would like to catch one; I did. I forgot to tell you that on our first day after fishing on the pier that we needed to find a place to camp… we did 10 minutes south of the pier and 10 minutes north of the bridge where we finished filling the cooler with fish. The campsite also had a free shower and was right on the beach, which we were allowed to enjoy later that week. One last thing I forgot to tell you… the weatherman called for rain I am not sure how many times; we didn’t get a drop during the day. We did get a refreshing a soothing springle at night along with a nice breeze from the ocean that cooled things off and put us to sleep. You see our trip with our Father was in August and the fishing should have been slow for blues and mackerals… but it wasn’t. Well, I suppose I gabbed to much. But this was Day One of five MAGICAL days spent enjoying the Love with our Father! Having a real relationship with Christ and enjoying His presence, makes for a real journey! Isn’t it something, that what took a few years to experience on the ocean, (without Truly knowing His presence around me), all took place in One day so that I might share my memories with my wife Lily? If anyone saw us fishing and camping, they would would think that there were two people on vacation. Actually, there were three; or maybe I should say One! FATHER BLESS everyone. I would Truly Love to hear stories of moments that you cherish. your host jim |
